The capital of this tiny country is the city of Luxembourg-Ville. It is divided into two main parts. Beautiful old centre with cobblestone streets and imposing walls is full of fortress towers. This area has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The most fascinating sights of old district include the Bock Promontory, Castle Bridge, and the Church of St. Ulric, the city’s oldest parish church. The modern part on the Plâteau du Kirchberg is ranked as the center of international finance. Main square of the city is called the Place d'Armes, where a lot of outdoor cafes and restaurants is situated. One of the most popular places in the city is the area known as the Grund, near the River Alzette. It can be reached via a lift going down through the ancient rock. Luxembourg-Ville can boast having various interesting museums, such as the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of History and Art, and the Museum of the City of Luxembourg.
The Müllerthal, located to the northeast is the second tourist region, usually characterized as an explorer’s paradise. Because of its natural beauty, Müllerthal is considered to be the most visited area. It is not a surprise that it is usually called Luxembourg's “Little Switzerland”. The resorts of Beaufort and Larochette, famous for their hilltop castles, are the best in the country. Do not miss the town of Esch-sur-Sûre, a rather popular resort, located near the River Sûre. Looking for the spa treatment, visit Mondorf-les-Bains. The northern third of the country is the Ardennes, famous for its forested hills and valleys. It has a list of amazing attractions. The National Museum of Military History in Diekirch offers the tourists a vast collection of weapons, uniforms, and military equipment. There is also an exhibition, devoted to the history of Luxembourg’s own armed forces. The towns of Diekirch and Wiltz are ideal places to taste the region's alcoholic products. The General Patton Memorial Museum in Ettelbruck is another must-visit in the country. It displays the photographs and documents, depicting the period of the German invasion in May 1940, when the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg was occupied. South of the capital is the “Land of the Red Rocks”, named in such a way because local land is rich in iron. The attraction of the region is Esch-sur-Alzette, the second largest town in the country, which is a prominent business center, and also known for its local theater and expositions. The fifth tourist zone in Luxembourg is the grape-growing Moselle Valley, situated to the southeast of the country. The region is mostly known for its wines. The most popular dry white wines are Rivaner, Auxerrois, Riesling, Pinot bland, and Pinot gris.
